You may remember seeing Gilliathon 2004 advertised several
months ago on the Upcoming
Events page here at GAGC.net. The members of the Gilliathon 2004 Committee
started working on this event about 6 or 7 months ago and we're really getting
rolling on it now and may need additional volunteers.
What we're planning a fundraiser for next June 2004, to be held in both US and Germany (specifically, Las Vegas and Munich). The event will be a party, with games, prizes, raffle, food etc. etc. There will be an auction associated with it, t-shirts for sale... all sorts of goodies. And, since we know not everyone can travel long distances, we really want to establish smaller "local" Gilliathons, to be held in your own hometowns, with similar activities, all with the aim of raising money for charity. Early on, Buskaid was voted to be the charity to benefit from our efforts in this first year. As an annual event, we'll be able to change charities every year. So we need help in a couple of areas. I'd like to know: a) can you dedicate an hour or two a week (and more as the time approaches) to helping plan the event? b) can you contribute ideas of your own, not just offering agreement with others? c) can you research things like prices, availability etc. on the internet and locally in your hometowns? If you answered yes to the above, and would like to be part of Gilliathon 2004, the please email GAGC Admin. I'd also like to know if you'd be interesting in hosting or helping to host a Local Gilliathon in your own town for people from your region who can't get to either Vegas or Munich. If you could let me know at the same email address if you'd be willing to take that on, I'll keep you involved in/apprised of the main planning process as well. Hope you can all get as enthusiastic about this as the rest of us are! We think we can do something great here!!!!! |
